Vietnamese coffee is different and the method of preparation is also different
The true, authentic Vietnamese coffee is prepared using the so-called "Phin" filter. We use sweet condensed milk as well, which only empowers the experience of the coffee. In the hot Vietnamese climate, they often use ice to create a refreshingly cool iced coffee.
1) Add 2-3 teaspoons of ground coffee into the drip coffee filter and lightly press it down with the top strainer.
2) Use a see-through cup to see the visual experience of the Vietnamese coffee ritual. Put enough sweet condensed milk into the cup to reach 0.5-1cm from the bottom. Place the drip filter on top of the cup and then pour enough boiling water (96-100 ° C) to moisten the ground coffee.
3) Wait around 20 seconds, then fill the filter with hot water and cover the top with the filter lid. Over the next 4-5 minutes, the water should drip through the strainer and through the coffee into the cup.
4) Take off the filter lid, turn it upside down and then take off the drip filter and place it on the upside down lid on the table. The lid will collect any leftover water and prevent spillage on the table.
Vietnamese coffee can be served hot, or with added ice for a delicious iced coffee.
