Sushi (Japanese 寿司，鮨，鮓，すし) is a traditional Japanese dish made from rice flavored with vinegar sauce and a variety of raw or cooked ingredients.
The characteristic raw materials are mainly raw fish (tuna, salmon, mackerel) and eggs, seafood (shrimp, octopus, squid, sea urchins, crabs), vegetables (cucumber, carrot, avocado), egg omelette, but also tofu or mushrooms (shitake). The third basic raw material used to prepare most types of sushi is seaweed nori (jap. 海苔 ， の り). Sushi is served with ginger, wasabi and soy sauce. Sushi is currently popular dish in Slovakia, as evidenced by many restaurants focused on this dish nowadays.
