Yakiudon is Stir-Fried udon noodles with meat and vegetables. It's simple, quick and more homemade food than in a restaurant.
Although Yakiudon is not a fancy Japanese dish, with lots of vegetables and meat, it is still a very good idea for a perfect lunch or a great alternative to dinner or a quick snack.
Preparation time: 10 minutes, Cooking time: 7 minutes
Recipe for : 2 servings
Ingredients
- 2 servings of Udon noodles (2 chilled packages)
- 150 g of pork
- 1/2 small carrot
- 1/3 green pepper
- 1/3 onion
- 75 g of cabbage
- 1 tablespoon of oil
- 1 tablespoon of soy sauce
- white pepper, if you have it
- Katsuobushi (dried katsuo flakes)
- Benishoga (pickled red ginger)
Instructions
- Wash Udon noodles under running water. Drain them very well. Or prepare dried Udon noodles according to package directions.
- Cut the meat and vegetables into bite-size pieces.
- Heat the oil well in a pan over medium-high heat. Add the pork and fry until browned.
- Add carrots, green pepper and onion and sauté for a minute. Add the cabbage and cook until the vegetables are browned.
- Add the Udon to the same pan and sauté for a few minutes. Season with soy sauce and white pepper, if you have it.
- Sprinkle with Katsuobushi and Benishoga, as desired.
