IQF foods are notable for the fact that each individual piece of food is frozen separately from all others.

The way food is frozen in the IQF method is by sending individual foods on a type of conveyor belt to a freezing unit that freezes the item very quickly. Since the food is separate when it goes, it will stay separate after freezing.
