Cripsy Pork belly Thit quayCrunchy pork belly

Vietnamese or Chinese recipe? It is not important, important is how to do it properly.

This is the simplest roasted pork recipe that you can find. But it turns out amazing.

Recipe from Helen

Prep: 20 mins Cook: 60 mins Ready in: 4 hrs 20 mins

For: 4-6 Servings

Ingredients

  • 1 kg of pork belly - rinse thoroughly and dry with a kitchen paper towel,
  • Mix # 1 for marinate meat
  1. 1 teaspoon salt
  2. 2 tablespoons sugar
  3. 1 tablespoon powder 5 spices
  4. 1/2 tablespoons of black pepper
  5. 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • Mix # 2 on the skin
  1. 2 teaspoons salt
  2. 1 teaspoon white vinegar

Instructions

  • Mix all ingredients of mixture no. 1 and mixture no. 2 to 2 separate bowls.

  • Make shallow cuts (1 cm) along the entire length of the pork belly. Each cut should be 2.5 cm away from the other.

  • Mixture no. 1 rub all sides of the pork (except the skin). Then place it upside down on a plate and wipe the skin dry with a paper towel. Part of mixture no. 2 Apply to skin and leave to marinate in the refrigerator for 3 hours or overnight.

  • Preheat the oven to 200 ° C. Place a piece of pork skin side down on a baking sheet lined with foil. Bake for 20 minutes.

  • Remove the pork from the oven, turn it over (the skin side is now facing up). Use a paper towel to wipe the skin. (You can use a fork or skewer to pierce the entire skin, but this is not necessary.) Coat the brush again on skin # 2. Bake for another 20 minutes.

  • You will see that bubbles start to appear on the skin. Remove it from the oven, wipe off the fat on the skin and recoat mixture # 2. Bake for the last 20 minutes. In total, it takes 1 hour.

  • Vinegar and salt are important to keep the skin dry and crunchy. You don't have to consume all of the # 2 mixture, but be sure to apply the remaining amount of salt to create the most bubbles on your skin. This can make the skin salty, but you can scrape the salt off the finished meat.
